SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS

 Development Programs

SERAS programs are a partnership between the Academy and the relevant Sport.  As such, SERAS programs form an integral part of the talent development pathway for each sport.  The focus of the programs are to develop the individual skills of each athlete.  This means that SERAS coaches strive to assist each individual to become a well rounded athlete by developing their sport specific techniques and strategies as well as their personal skills.

High Level Coaching

SERAS squad sport program coaches are recognised by the relevant sporting organisation as being amongst the best developmental coaches in the local area.  Academy head coaches are expected to possess or be working toward a National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) Level 2 accreditation, whilst assistant coaches must possess a minimum Level 1 accreditation.  SERAS program staff are assisted in the delivery of the program by staff from the relevant sporting organisation and high profile guest coaches and athletes.

SERAS offers coaching and umpiring scholarships in our squad sport programs to assist their development in their sport.

Competition Opportunities

Whilst the primary focus of SERAS squad sport programs is on individual athlete development, the Academy recognises the need for athletes to have the opportunity to put learnt techniques into practice in competitive situations.  Therefore, SERAS squads sometimes compete in inter-academy activities and regional competitions including the NIB Games and the Academy Games.

SERAS Athlete Education Program

The Athlete Education Program focuses on providing skills that will assist the athlete to develop both within and outside of competition and training.  The Athlete Education Program aims to assist athletes to reach their potential in sport, education, vocation and personal achievements with the emphasis on sports science initiatives.
